How we handle your information
Draft. This is a plain-language starting point that describes what the website actually does today. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and it does not yet name a data-protection contact or a retention period. Complete both before relying on it.
OM Hindu Center respects your privacy. This page explains what we collect through this website, why, and what we do with it. We keep it short because we collect very little.
What we collect
- When you reserve the hall — your name, email address, telephone number, the kind of event, the number of guests expected, and anything you write in the notes.
- When you write to us — your name, email address, telephone number if you give one, and your message.
- When you create an account — your name, email address and the password you choose. Passwords are stored only in an encrypted form that cannot be read back, by us or anyone else.
- When you pay — your card details are entered directly with our payment provider and are never stored on this website. We keep only a record that a payment was made, and its reference.
- Automatically — ordinary web-server records such as the pages requested and the browser used, kept for security and to keep the site working.
Why we collect it
To answer you, to manage your reservation, to take payment for it, and to keep the accounts a charitable organisation is required to keep. That is all. We do not build a profile of you.
What we never do
- We do not sell your information, and we never will.
- We do not share it with anyone except the service providers we need to run the site — our web host and our payment provider — and only to the extent they need it.
- We do not add you to a mailing list because you booked a hall or sent a message. If we ever start a newsletter, you will have to ask for it.
Cookies
This site sets cookies only where they are needed to make it work — to keep you signed in, and to remember an order while you are paying for it. We do not use advertising cookies. [If analytics are added later, say so here and explain how to opt out.]
How long we keep it
[State a period for each: booking records, messages sent through the contact form, and accounts that have not been used. Financial records usually have to be kept for a set number of years — check what applies to the centre.]
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We may have to keep some records for accounting reasons, and if so we will tell you which and why. Write to [privacy contact email address].
Children
This website is not intended for children to use on their own. Where a child takes part in a class or event, we ask a parent or guardian to provide the details.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date below.
